Map fragment of the Pompinious Mela (15 - 66 A.D.)

N1. A fragment of the map of Pompinious Mela (15 – 66 A. D.) is compiled on the basis of the information given by the author or is redrawn in the XVth century. According to the map, Colckhis (Colkhos) has the border on the North-West with the Azov Sea. Thus, the territory of present Abkhazia and historical Jiketi are within the ancient Georgian State. The map is kept in Vatican (Vatikano, Arch. Spietro, Ms H 31, f 8u). Is published in the book: B. Gogia. Abkhazia..., p. 14.
